The Desert Wind Dancers

The Desert Wind Dancers is the student repertory troupe under the direction of Galatea Middle Eastern Dance.  Formed in September 2007, the troupe consists of students enrolled in Galatea's Level 2 classes at various locations.  The purpose of the troupe is to provide Belly Dance students with the opportunity to perform in appropriate and safe venues.  The Desert Wind Dancers made their performance debut at the Tarik Sultan Workshop Showcase on December 1st, 2007.

Students must pass an audition process to become part of the troupe.  Mandatory troupe rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons, and consist of choreography not covered in other classes.  Troupe members must sign a troupe contract and exhibit a required level of commitment in regards to attendance, outside class practice and costuming in order take part in performances.  Auditions take place at various times throughout the year when new choreographies are begun (maximum number of troupe members limited to 12)
